Fang Hwa Chinese Tuition

“You will love my lessons and you will achieve your goal in PSLE or O-LEVEL Chinese,Just like all my students did in the past   —Fang LaoShi

How I teach children Chinese?

                             Bilingual teacher

I speak 50% in English and 50% in Chinese during class. Being a bilingual teacher, I find explaining certain things in English helps students to fully understand the content, methodology, skills and tricks to score high during the exams.

                               Magic Toolbox

Students in Singapore do not have a lack of exercise in Chinese, however they often fight barehanded as they don’t have the right tools to help them achieve their goals. That’s why I created my “Magic Toolboxes”, consisting of Oral, Comprehension, Compo and Vocabulary and designed to arm students with powerful weapons. Students are trained to skilfully use these weapons.

                        Assessment Reports

I provide individual Assessment Reports to students and parents regularly. The relationship with both students and parents is crucial and clear communication is key to win as a team.

(Check the Assessment report here)

I am the one and only

One teacher – one small classroom, and plenty of one-on-one time. Education is a special industry and economy of scale typically means a lower quality. That is why I choose to teach by myself, limiting classes to 5 students maximum, guaranteeing each student sufficient one-on-one time to review, discuss and practice.

Exam driven does not conflict with Fun

Having fun is not the goal – good exam result is! This is the reality and this is what I aim for. However, all my students love attending my classes and they deliver the results they could not reach before.Want to find out why? Click here to sign up the trial lessons.

About Fang Laoshi

I was born a teacher, but not like any teachers you have ever met.

I started my career as a Finance Manager, first in Hong Kong, then Belgium, France, South Africa and lastly Singapore, typically relocating every 2 or 3 years. When I arrived in Singapore in 2013 I met my future wife and we started a family.

During my years in Finance, I realised that my real strengths and passion were Coaching and Communication. I was always a well performing manager, enabling others to deliver the results and more importantly — to grow.

Where did I get these skills? Thinking back, I was always a top student and studying came natural to me. That’s why I started to teach when I was 18 — I founded a 2-month English Summer camp in China and taught students from primary to secondary. In university, I home tutored Math and English; In France, I home tutored English and Economics; In South Africa, I provided Chinese lessons for a local Primary school

Where did I get that passion and drive? Maybe through my father, a secondary school teacher who stood in front of a blackboard for 40 years; Maybe from all of the great teachers I met in the East and West in this world; Or maybe the passion came from my son, helping him evolve and grow. Education is my path, my dedication.

I could teach many subjects, like Math, Economics or Management, but I’ve found that the best output I can provide is in Chinese language. And especially in Singapore, this subject is critical for many students if they want enroll in their dream schools. In the long term, they will benefit from my classes in their careers and lives overall.

And so I founded Fang Hwa, a Chinese tuition helping children to reach their full potential in Chinese. Since that day, I’ve been studying the MOE textbooks and exam papers to be able to design the best possible materials; I collaborate with NUS professors and MOE teachers to optimize my teaching approach and class design and I openly communicate with students and their parents to find tailor-made solutions.

You will love my lessons and you will achieve your goal in PSLE or O LEVEL Chinese, Just like all my students did in the past.

I look forward to meeting you soon.
